10 Reasons to Stay at Arisaig Hotel

31/03/2022

Description text

With the greatest of the great outdoors right on our doorstep, it’s easy to see why we tend to focus our blogging and social media efforts on the many beaches, attractions and wildlife watching opportunities the area has to offer.  Today, however, we’ve decided to cross the Rubicon and engage in a little (or a lot of) shameless self-promotion!  Here’s ten reasons why you should consider staying at the best hotel in the west – Arisaig Hotel!

Location, Location, Vacation

The village-centre and waterfront location of Arisaig Hotel makes it the perfect choice for those wishing to explore the aforementioned great outdoors without having to wave goodbye to your creature comforts. Within minutes of leaving the hotel and village, you’ll be transported into a glorious wilderness of deserted beaches, far-off forests and lonely lochs, but upon your return, you’ll find excellent eateries, shops, a busy marina and even a museum and visitor centre! Arisaig truly offer the best of both worlds.

For the drivers amongst you, there’s plenty of car parking at the hotel, but if you’re travelling by boat, bus or train, we’re just a ten-minute walk from the train station and a two-minute walk from the bus stop and marina.

Amenities Galore

The hotel offers everything you need to make your stay as pleasant as possible.  When booking a room at Arisaig Hotel, guests will not only enjoy great en-suite accommodation with tea / coffee making facilities, hairdryer, television and WiFi, but also ample free parking, filter coffee (available in the foyer), cooked / continental breakfast and access to the guest refrigerator.  A daily laundry service is also available at extra cost.

The on-site Crofter’s Rest pub offers great local dishes, a very well stocked bar, live traditional music and a covered beer garden.

Without even having to leave the carpark (believe it or not, this isn’t an exaggeration!) guests can try their hand at kayaking with Rockhopper, archery with Arisaig Archery, arrange for hired bikes to be delivered or sample world-renowned locally landed shellfish at Arisaig Shellfish Shack.

Awesome Accommodation

Throughout winter 21/22 the hotel’s bedrooms and reception spaces enjoyed a little TLC where each of the 15 en-suite bedrooms were re-painted, re-carpeted and re-tiled!  So, if you’re after a modern, fresh and clean en-suite room with crisp bed linen and a top-notch view, look no further!

Food Glorious Food (and Drinks)

Arisaig Hotel is the perfect place to refuel when passing through or staying in the village.  Our fantastic kitchen team serve up a great selection of dishes using fresh and locally sourced ingredients to satisfy every palate; from belly busting breakfasts and relaxed pub classics to tasty vegan offerings and seafood extravaganzas!  Due to our coastal location, we’re passionate about embracing everything the sea has to offer so you can rest assured that our seafood is locally caught, and our salmon and mussels are even smoked onsite.

For those on the lookout for a good drink, the Crofter's Rest will not disappoint either!  Glen Lyon coffee is served all day and an extensive range of single malt whiskies, Scottish gins, wine and real ales can be enjoyed.  For those who enjoy a pint, the specially designed beer cellar at the Crofter's Rest is temperature controlled to ensure customers get the perfect pint.

Accommodation Options to Suit Every Budget

Not only can we offer standard, superior and family accommodation options within the hotel, there’s also a fabulous on-site bunkhouse which caters for large groups and those on a smaller budget.

Psssst!  Keep an eye on our social media pages for exclusive offers such as ‘Buy One Night, Get a Second Night Free’ and if you’re passing through the village and the hotel blackboard outside says VACANCIES, come in and try and haggle with us!

Live Traditional Music

A small, west coast hub we might be, but over the years Arisaig Hotel has made some serious [sound]waves on the Scottish live music scene, and the hotel’s, Crofter’s Bar, is right at the heart of it.  With live music sessions every Friday night and Sunday afternoon, plus a whole host of superb bands and musicians lined up throughout the year, live music lovers don't have to head to the big bad cities to catch their favourite bands, just book in at the Arisaig Hotel instead!

Local Knowledge & Great Craic

The sensational staff at the hotel are chosen for their professionalism and personality, and because the core team are mostly local Arisaig-ers, they are pretty much a veritable goldmine of information on the area, so if you have any questions or queries about the hotel or the area, please do ask a member of the team.

We Love Children!

Anybody who regularly attempts the courageous task of taking a toddler out for dinner will undoubtedly know that the struggle is real! Attempting to get little ones to sit patiently while food is ordered, prepared and then finally served generally involves a lot of distraction techniques and fairly tense parents or guardians.

With four children under the age of nine, Arisaig Hotel owners, Josh & Sophie, have strived to make the hotel an extremely family-friendly establishment where children are positively welcomed in any of the public areas until 10pm.

Highchairs, pram parking, a tasty children’s menu and baby changing facilities are conveniently located directly opposite the family dining area, which contains spacious booths to keep little ones contained when eating, sensory play wall-panels (to prevent tripping accidents), brightly coloured wall hangings, books, colouring-in and games for the whole family to enjoy.  Parents are also free to put their child’s favourite tv show or film on after they’ve eaten so they can enjoy a well-deserved drink together without having to rush home.

Dogs for the Win

It’s not just children we love here at Arisaig Hotel, we also LOVE dogs and guess what?  Dogs LOVE Arisaig!  So, if you'd like to visit the area this year, but can't bear to leave your pampered pooch behind, just take him / her with you!  There’s even doggy water bowls in the beer garden and a jar of dog treats behind the bar for peckish pooches.

Steeped in History

Arisaig Hotel dates back to the Jacobite era and was built as a Coaching Inn around 1720.  Over the years, there have been many extensions and add-ons to the building, but the original building remains and it’s fascinating to think that 300 years of Arisaig antics have gone on within our building!
